ORCHID RESTAURANT AND KARAOKE CLUB OPENS TO ENTHUSIASTIC CHEERS FROM THOSE IN SEARCH OF FOOD AND FUN Innovative Pacific Rim Cuisine and a Rockin? Karaoke Club Make Orchid an Instant Hit

Housed in a Mid-Wilshire historical building, Orchid Restaurant and Karaoke Club features contemporary Pacific Rim cuisine in a setting reminiscent of a Jules Verne novel and an upstairs Karaoke Club that has Grammy written all over it.Encased in towering stainless steel waterwalls and massive coral-like pillars, the downstairs dining and bar area is both a technological marvel and fun-filled look at what life would be like at the bottom of the sea ? Las Vegas style.
Plug in a host of plasma screens, lighted towers that change color throughout the evening and concert-quality speakers and it's easy to see why visitors to Orchid might never want to return to the surface. Upstairs, the setting is no less magical.
Sleek and contemporary, Orchid features a choice of 18 private rooms to enjoy the Karaoke craze.
Outfitted with state-of-the art video and sound equipment, the exquisitely furnished rooms can accommodate groups from 6-30 and feature one of the most comprehensive music video library's available anywhere (offered in a choice of English, Korean, Chinese or Japanese languages).

A "butler button" in each room assures the uninterrupted food, cocktail and music needs of every guest throughout the evening. And a choice of professional lighting completes the stage for a once-in-a-lifetime performance experience. As befitting any fantastic voyage, especially one to the ocean's depth, dining and drinking at Orchid is at once both daring and safe.
Under the direction of native Hawaiian Robin Moe, a protege of the Islands prodigal son Roy Yamaguchi, the kitchen features contemporary Pacific Rim cuisine heavily influenced by rare ingredients imported directly from Hawaii.
For an adrenaline rush, try Moe's version of Hawaiian Poke ? a wonderful mixture of ahi tuna, fresh Hawaiian Ogo (seaweed), volcanic salt, sesame oil, soy and Japanese pepper.
For those that like to play it closer to home, the wood-grilled 12-ounce Ribeye steak with Portobello mushroom sauce is sure to have even the most demanding of carnivores nodding in approval Drinkers will think they have died and gone to heaven.

Shaken or stirred, an intoxicating 170 high-end brands of alcohol line the bar's illuminated shelves. But the choices don't end there.
Located in heart of Koreatown, Orchid has adopted the Korean penchant for ordering by the bottle by adapting it to contemporary standards.
If desired, guests can enjoy their favorite brand in what is called a "flight."
Consisting of a drink caddie holding (12) 2-ounce glass flasks filled with a choice of alcohol, a "flight" is the perfect alternative for serious drinkers who like things their way. Throw in a creative martini menu, a well-conceived wine list and a comprehensive line of Starbucks? coffees, and visitors to Orchid are in for a treat.Owned and operated by native Angelenos Robert, Darryl and Alan Ng, three brothers who are part of the new breed of young turks determined to change the landscape of Los Angeles nightlife.

No strangers to the hospitality industry, the trio (of Chinese and Korean ancestry) boasts a grandfather that owned one of the most successful bars in Chinatown during the 1930s and parents that founded the revered Do Hwa (Plum Blossom) Restaurant in Hillhurst, a Korean favorite during the 1980s. All USC graduates, the closely-knit brothers are committed to bringing something fresh and exciting into an area of Los Angeles all but forgotten, until now.
"Look around, because Koreatown is about to change," says Orchid General Manager Alan Ng.

Quantiscript Delivers on 30nm nano-imprint Templates with QSR-5™

Sherbrooke, Qu?bec, Canada (ContentDesk) November 30, 2005 -- Quantiscript Inc, a leader in development of novel resist solutions for the semiconductor industry, released results demonstrating commercial viability of nano-imprint templates with pattern features down to 30 nanometers, using its novel QSR-5" Resist solution. The International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) describes challenging specifications for the 32nm technology node including limits on Line Edge Roughness (LER) for very dense patterns which cannot be met by todays commercial resist solutions. Quantiscript has developed novel resist solutions that use evaporation and plasma-based deposition techniques to achieve ultra-thin layers of resist down to 30nm, not achievable with todays spin-coated deposition processes. Thin resists have demonstrated benefits in achieving high resolution dense patterns with low LER and are key to achieving the 32nm technology node specifications.Quantiscript patterned its own...

The Top 3 Problems With Plasma TVs

It's easy to be instantly drawn to a plasma TV screen, especially one that is displaying full HDTV programming. The visual beauty is amazing. And plasma TVs tend to be among the lower cost thin screen technologies that are available today. But there are a few problems inherent to the design and you should at least be aware of them before making a buying decision.

The first is that plasma TVs use inert gases that are illuminated to display colors on the screen. The way that this is accomplished makes for very high contrast, vivid images on the screen, but it also can be affected by high altitudes.

If you live above 6,000 - 7,000 feet above sea level, you should know that plasma TVs have to work much harder to produce the same image than they would at lower altitudes. This may not cause an immediate problem, but over time the monitor wears out much faster due to the extra work load. So if you happen to live in high altitudes, just bear this in mind when buying a plasma...
